The least Eco Friendly Government Office? Climate Change!
22/05/2009
267 government offices were looked at. The poorest performers in terms of energy efficiency? Well for one, the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
On the seven point energy scale for buildings, it scored a G - the lowest as did the Department for Health. Even the Home Office which was only recently moved to NEW buildings scored a G. In total, 98 fell into the worst category, a staggering 37%, a further 13% scored an F, and in total, 70% were E or lower.
So thats 70% being LESS energy efficient than the accepted standard of normal buildings of their type.
The best rated? The Ministry of Justice and the Wales Office were both rated at C
Flying the flag for energy efficiency? Not exactly. The technology is there, why aren't they using it?
