Natural Menopause

There are numerous studies proving the dangers of Hormone Replacement Therapy.   Professor Bruno Muller-Oerlinghausen, chairman of the German Commission on the Safety of Medicines went so far as to describe HRT as a “national and international tragedy”.  HRT drugs were launched amidst claims from the drug companies that a "pharmaceutical miracle" had been discovered for menopausal women.   There were no medical studies to prove the safety of HRT and despite this, HRT drugs were prescribed to millions of women all over the world.

Over time, experts began to express serious concerns over the safety of HRT and yet the drug companies and medical profession dismissed these claims.    It is only in recent years that the true dangers of HRT have been accepted and numerous studies have shown the clear links between HRT and a range of health conditions.

The Natural Alternatives to HRT

Menopausal symptoms can be extremely debilitating, but the good news is that there are a range of alternative, natural remedies for the menopause.  Many are tried and tested herbal remedies that have been used throughout history.   The menopause is a transitional process that your body must go through, a natural part of a woman’s journey through life.  It makes sense to use natural remedies that support your body in gentle, holistic manner.  Taking the natural approach avoids the associated health risks and side effects of HRT, and unlike HRT drugs, can even be taken by perimenopausal (still menstruating) women who are experiencing menopausal symptoms.

Some women find that Complementary Therapies provide tremendous support and help to manage symptoms.  Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Aromatherapy and others are commonly used.   Explore the directory of Complementary Therapies to find a therapy that may particularly suit you.  Of course, an excellent nutritional programme and exercise are important. Women who have a good diet, and exercise regularly cope better with the menopause and also protect themselves against conditions such as Osteoporosis.
