The 'Human Givens' means the basic needs, capacities, tendencies and resources we all have, the 'givens' of human nature. We're learning more about these givens every day from current psychological and brain research, from evolutionary psychology, and a deepening understanding of the mechanisms behind the traditional healing and spiritual disciplines.

Human Givens therapy draws on all these insights and also takes into account lifestyle factors and the effects of physical or metabolic imbalance. Bypassing much 20th century counselling tradition and focusing on what's real, and what works, Human Givens therapists can usually turn even long-standing problems, such as anxiety, depression, anger, obsession, traumas, PTSD, phobias and panic attacks around in a very few sessions. This effectiveness has made Human Givens training the biggest source of outside training for the NHS.
