Worldwide, there are many people and eco-communities striving to create truly sustainable ways of living, difficult to achieve, but many groups are making significant in-roads and provide examples of how we can protect the planet for future generations.   In 1998 ecovillages were named among the United Nations Listing of 100 Best Practices.

In the UK, Eco-villages are becoming more and more popular as an alternative way of living in the modern world.   Living in harmony with nature, utilising local, organic food production, renewable energy systems, holistic health care and eco-friendly building techniques, at the heart of these villages are traditional values of family, society and community.  Ownership of land is generally shared by the members, with many operating as legal co-operatives.

Many of these villages are looking for new people and families to join the community.  Most offer visits, workshops, residential courses, hand made produce from local goods and much more.

To find Eco-Communities in your area simple use the search box to your right to view directory listings in your county.
