Thermo-Auricular Therapy / Ear Candling has been used by healers from many countries for centuries and is also known as coning.

This therapy is sometimes referred to as Hopi Candling. The Hopi people are known for their deeply spiritual nature and extensive knowledge of healing, Hopi means people of peace.

It is a gentle and natural therapy that is said to clear the mind and senses, and can relieve sinusitis, rhinitis, earwax, earache, glue ear, hayfever, irritation of the ears including tinnitus and can help with a common cold. It is also suitable for the treatment of headaches and migraines. It is not suitable for those with perforated eardrums.

The candles are made out of cotton flax, genuine candles are made in the traditional way including impregnating them  with honey and herb oils (in particular chamomile, sage and St Johns wort).    The candle is placed over the ear and ignited, producing a gentle heat, that combined with the oil and herbs soften the wax and draw it into the base of the candle.  After this initial part of the treatment, the ear and surrounding area is massaged and the same procedure is followed on the other side.  The treatment finishes with a complete facial massage.
