Bowen Technique

You can find a Bowen therapist in your area by using the search box on your right

The Bowen Technique (named after its inventor – Tom Bowen) is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses gentle rolling movements to specific areas of the body, some of these points correspond to acupressure points.   These movements release tension and energetic blocks held in the muscles, allowing the body to rebalance itself and energy to flow freely.

A session usually lasts around an hour with pauses between movements to allow the body time to assimilate the changes, the practitioner will often leave the room for short periods of time whilst this assimilation takes place.   Many health conditions respond in just two or three sessions.

Symptoms that respond well to the Bowen Technique include back pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder problems, sports injuries, migraines / headaches, menstrual problems, chronic fatigue and stress related problems, knee problems, sports injuries, RSI, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, respiratory conditions, chronic fatigue, headaches, kidney problems and stress.

Bowen therapists recommend that it not be mixed with other therapies and recommend that no other form of physical or energetic therapy is used for one week either side of treatment.
